I find it's very easy to get lost in the market, it might be small in comparison to others, but it's too big to be able to keep track of everything.
I find HC is a good tool for being alerted to stocks you may overlook or to find that hidden gem hiding amongst the scrap heap.
I've often clicked on a random thread and found something interesting and prompted further digging and ended with a respectable trade.
Many stocks I don't bother to post on the individual thread, especially if it's starting to get some love - can't be f'd with the cat fights with the LT believers. I probably should try contribute more though, for the newbies that don't know the drill.
Like GT said, if it's on the most discussed list it's a good indicator you have to chase the trade or it has already had it's run. Avoid and look for the next one.
Seeing a respectable poster show up on a thread can also help when you have those days/weeks of self doubt (when everything you touch turns to custard) - a calming influence psychologically, if you will.
