Time again for an update to the STT Weekly views vs the XEC. Last update was Jan 2018. Still a bit of correlation going on.
I noticed an issue with the data looking back. Some of the older threads have significantly more views than they did when I first collated their figures. E.g. the weekly threads starting December 2017 all have at least 20k more views than they did when I collated the figures in Jan 2018. One thread has 40k more views (Week starting 13th Mar 2017). The average additional views going back to March 2016 is 13k. Guess it is the combined effect of search engines, scraping, web spiders, the internet wayback machine, people searching old posts and people going back over the old threads? Not much to be done about it, elected to keep the old figures as they are a better representation of views at the time.
The number of views were collected at the following points in time - 27/10/2018, 6/1/2018, 30/04/2017 and 17/11/2016. What this means is the data will be least representative (i.e. higher than actual views at the time) just after these points and will become more representative as the next point is approached. For some reason the variance appears to be the worst leading up to 6/1/2018 and presumably after. Interesting that a lot of people are finding value in looking at the old threads.
