Good to hear your feelings Buff,
A horrible thing to watch a parent die due to cruel beauracracies and their inability to be relevant. Imagine the pain of watching your child die knowing that the cannibis oil that could prevent their agony and prolong their life was unable to be used legally .There are no compelling reasons to my knowledge why cannibis has remained illegal for generations . Medical practitioners have known of its benefits to patient health, but have been hamstrung by it illegal status. And the cause of its illegal status is unclear, but mainly seems to have been a racially motivated attempt to discredit Mexicans by the US administration in the 1930s. It became a way of being able to detain Mexicans and control them, as many chose to use cannibis for recreational purposes. So really, cannibis was targeted
as a way of demonising Mexicans. Fear running amok, and successive governments allowing the status quo to persist.
I was about to say how our political structure and self preservation ,leads to our political class becoming quite gutless in the pursuit of power, and I do believe this to be mainly true. The one notable exception that springs to mind is the gun buy back program initiated by the Howard government after the port Arthur massacre.
It's seems cannibis oil is about to get a reprieve, better very late than never, but still no excuse for cruel policies being allowed to exist causing suffering and death. No excuses for the clumsy , careless and handsomely rewarded beauracrats. IMO
