There is something radically wrong with the way we humans organize ourselves into the various forms of societies.
In OZ we vote for someone to be in charge... usually the only choices are between groups of people none of whom we would have as friends and who we wouldn't want to invite into our kitchens... but somehow we have to trust them to make the decisions about how we all live our lives.
In China, at the moment, we have this most aloof individual who once he got the top job changed all the laws so he could keep that job for life. Xi is now effectively an emperor. The first thing he did once he became President was purge everyone he didn't like and then having stacked the place with his own appointees undermined the very system which got him into office. China has always been a military dictatorship but it is rapidly morphing into a police state.
In the US, the top job is in the hands of an overconfident narcissist. In 2 and a bit years he has undermined international cooperation between countries [what little of that there actually was], walked away from several international agreements, threatened several countries and started a trade war [because "they were easy to win"]. When his hard core followers finally wake up to the fact they have been had things will get very nasty.
In the UK. Well where do you start?
The Middle East... what a mess. It is bad enough Western powers have invaded some of the countries [with the intent of "bombing them back to the stone age"] but Islam is at the heart of their problems. They have been fighting each other for centuries over which sort of Islam is the legitimate one. Iran is run by a bunch of clerics, Saudi is run by a murderous family, Egypt is a dictatorship. Across the whole region the Koran is the 'holy book' and can not be contradicted. Parked right in the middle of it all is Israel and the recent election result depended upon gaining support of the ultra religious minor parties whose only platform seems to be that they are 'Gods chosen people'. Truly, in the Middle East the idiots are in charge.
Pakistan... all I can say is 'wish you luck Imran'. India... there it is unconstitutional and against the law to even disagree with anyone's religion.
Africa ... struggled against colonization for hundreds of years. Currently being eyed-off by China for the same purposes. Some pockets of pleasantness but mostly run by the best governments that money can buy.
What a shameful way to do things.... everywhere you care to look.
