Hi Free and shortermers, I've got a question for you.
Do you think the brains of traders are bigger and/or smarter than the rest of the population?
We stretch our grey matter lots every day and need the equivalent of a black belt in karate with lots of finely honed skills to be successful. Research has shown that the brains of London cabbies are bigger than the general population because they have to acquire "The Knowledge" (the info and ability to navigate the streets of London effortlessly). Then when they retire the brain shrinks back to normal, indicating the plasticity of the brain and the effect of exercising.
Now we have to gain our "knowledge" by studying medical and scientific research, be students of human behaviour/psychology, analyse current affairs and economy, manage our own personal finances, control our impulses, philosophize on the whys and wherefores and constantly make critical decisions. So how big must out brains be?
