Everyone uses charts in different ways, and as you pointed out you can be a very successful chart reader by just reading raw data. But equally lets not forget that you can be a very successful trader and need indicators too - it's just tools in a toolbox, you don't tell a tradie what tools to use you're just interested in the end result
