1. Lithium Hydroxide, currently used in existing Li battery technology, is cheaper to make from solid rock Li (eg pegmatite) than brine sources, because the latter currently produce Li Carbonate.
2. Tesla has outsourced its battery manufacture, but has deals with two Li developers who have not yet begun production - hence the outsourcing to Panasonic **at** Tesla's own factory.
