There is something wrong with your figures when you say age pensioners cost the government a million bucks. Most elderly pensioners spend around twenty years in retirement and say we use the higher single rate of around $900 a fortnight that's about $25,000 a year. So over twenty years they would be paid half a million.The other thing is that they might have lived in their house for several decades and want their surroundings to remain familiar.
