Labor leader Bill Shorten has been accused of lying to Australians after he ruled out any new or increased taxes on superannuation, despite previously announcing a raft of changes. Labor previously announced it was planning an overhaul of the system that will generate $34 billion in tax revenue. Speaking to Sky News on Wednesday, Finance Minister Mathias Cormann said Mr Shorten's claim was 'manifestly untrue', because 'Labor is planning $34 billion in higher taxes on superannuation which of course comes on top of $57 billion in higher taxes targeting retirees'.
