i believe they have/ have had the management consultants in and sale of wire ropes was probably to stream line their businesses more towards core activities/ those with greater ROI. Not so sure that their bankers are calling the shots etc etc. Prior announcements indicate that their sideline businesses have been up for sale since before the IO price made its dramatic plunge.

I still believe that their infrastructure assets (ie rail/ port) have a higher value (even at non boom prices) than their debt.
