It's going to boil down to profitability and whether their revenue will be canibalised by the ppl moving to cloud service providers such as AWS and Azure. The "data centre" is getting commoditsed to a point where most of the value have been extracted / realised by the cloud service providers which relegates the physical data centre operators to the status of a landlord. The cloud service providers also command big buying power and standardised services will enable them to rapidly (relatively speaking) move to a different data centre and hence reduces any lock-in premium a dc operator traditionally has.
Will be interesting to see how this all plays out.
