the advantage is probably advertising/marketing, im no guru on this but slaters can for example sponsor the ashes and its win-win because they have a huge presence in both markets where as it makes no sense for shine. so scale probably doesnt help with operating costs or provide huge operating leverage but certainty the cost of marketing can be spread across geographies/their army of lawyers.
on the other hand, these negative media stories hurts its brand more because slaters is a big business.
