I wouldn't be at all concerned about MGX, it's just the same Lithium extraction Tech that POSCO are already using, Quote: "
The final product is lithium fluoride, which can be refined for use in batteries." and, POSCO are already at a far more advanced stage along that development path than this mob are.
The other consideration, is that POSCO themselves haven't bothered to go down this path of trying to recover Li from the processing of oil-field brines, because although it sounds great in theory, the economics involved are very doubtful, simply because of the extreme levels of dilution involved, just as 'in theory' this same Tech could also be used to recover Li straight from sea-water, however again, thanks to the extremely dilute Li concentration levels involved, it is just not economically feasible to do so because of the truly immense volumes of brine, that would have to be processed.
POSCO, purposely, chose instead to buy GXY's Northern SDV brine tenement for themselves because it offers them far far higher Li concentrations when the Li-rich brine comes straight out of the ground.
Ask yourself, why would you ever choose, to process ..HUGE.. volumes of 'Li-dilute' oil-field brines with all of the associated far higher processing costs involved, if you could just instead choose right from the outset, to process far far lower volumes, of much higher Li brine concentrations, at far lower associated costs.
Just simple economics.
POSCO by the way, are 'so enamored' with GXY's SDV Li brine prospects that they are in fact still, continuing to 'court us, with sweet murmurings of mutual inter-company SDV Li-love' and they have already made direct offers to GXY of their own company's assistance with our, own development, of our Southern SDV brine tenement.
I know exactly, where, I'll be leaving, my money.
