I have no idea where the idea comes from that solar panels are plug and play. There is a lot of technical expertise and equipment required to collect that solar power and actually get it to the network. There are also several Codes of Practice and Australian Standards that must be satisfied before you can even supply energy to the grid. Solar farms all over are abusing the rules and regulations that apply in Aus. On top of this is all the civil and building construction that is required to complete a project. The rework that is happening due to the use of unskilled backpacker labour generally equates to a higher cost than doing the job with skilled tradespeople. Compare what is happening in SA where a project done with skilled people came out miles ahead for all concerned.
