Yes, good question. First of all, I'm not sure how valid a gap it is because it was last filled on 25 September, not that long ago. After today there remains a small 'not sure if it really is a gap any more' between $2.60 and $2.62. If it did get filled, I would expect the SP to bounce off $2.60 anyway (all else being equal).

If anyone is wondering why I am even talking about gaps, I was originally dismissive, but I have since found that they often get filled, even when you wouldn't expect them to. I put it down to the charts reflecting buyer and seller trigger points, or their supply and demand curves, and the settled price at any given time is just the intersection of the supply and demand curves.
