Shorters are not the evil doers that you say they are. i would like to hear your rationale for saying so.
Without a market having the ability to short stocks, management could get away with just about anything they like. I dont mind having Professional investors looking for management that are playing fast and loose with shareholder funds. Any over leveraging of balance sheets, laziness, or profligacy in expenses will be noticed and punished by the short sellers.
Along with the liquidity they provide, that is a good thing for retail shareholders. I am not saying that this activity shouldnt be regulated, it should, and very tightly. But, most people that demonise short selling dont seem to understand it and its benefits to the market.
As one Hedge Fund manager stated to a Government committee during the GFC: "Dont Blame the Mirror for your Ugly Face"......
