Long time lurker, first time poster.

Just wanted to say that the shorts entered their position 2022 Q4 and should be sitting around at least $90+ mil profit so far; they are certainly not losing money yet. Don’t read too much into the short term short interest movements, just watch the aggregate short interest if you want to trade against them.

If you want to trade against them, you should understand what their trade is. Those 10% short interest is not a long term short on lithium, it’s likely a medium term hedge against SYA execution risk and easy way to profit take on existing long positions.

What that means is that it will likely be open till production ramps up and payment is accounted for on the SYA books.
From the perspective of smaller holders, you and I simply do not have the resources to hedge against execution risk, so best option IMO is just to hold till dividend time.
