Some ridiculous comments on this thread, and really makes you wonder how people trade.

1. Short-selling, either naked or covered, of financials is not allowed, and has been banned since around September 20.

2. Naked short selling is selling shares you don't own, or don't borrow with the intention of buying them back at a cheaper price. In other words, the share are sold despite the fact they do not exist.
Not allowed.

3. Covered short selling is borrowing shares at a price from your broker, and selling them with the hope of buying them back at a cheaper price, thereby making a profit and then returnig the borrowed shares.

Not allowed for financials.

4.Buying and selling your own shares at any price is called trading. Has absolutely nothing to do with short selling.
