They short but they must be doing buy during the course. Otherwise they will be running out of ammunition easily. The computer program must be smart enough to buy/sell, buy/sell and optimize profit.
In these days, high frequency computer trading dominate. A day trader will have to fight against computers. I would rather be a value investor and invest long term.
