vmp if shorting is causing emotional depression then having a better understanding will enable investors to make better decisions about the size and timing of their investments. Centuries ago science was outlawed as witchcraft because people didnt understand it - they feared what they didnt understand - where would we be without science today?
I'm not saying shorting is good or bad (full disclosure: I trade FX and I trade long and short without bias), I'm just saying investors should understand how it really works so they are better armed to make their investment decisions - it is a fact of investing life and I doubt it is going away - so we should learn to live with it, knowledgeably.

Ok, I too will short my own shares if the price looks like sliding but: I do not manipulate the market create the slide to profit from other traders.
This I too see as theft.
Plain and simple. Theft enabled by a gutless asx.
