Not really possible. You can't buy after the halt. And they can't have known exactly when the halt would occur. In the minutes prior to the halt the slide was getting steeper and steeper. why would you close the position then? Had there been no halt, the price might have gone sub 1$ or even lower.
Whilst they didn't exactly get burnt on this transaction, their reputation is shot. No one will pile in next time they issue a short report. It's cost them millions long term. I expect Bonitas will be reborn in the near future.
