The broker has millions of shares at their disposal... so it won't be your shares being borrowed if you are selling it will be someone elses.
But lets say for whatever reason you are the only one who owns those shares with that broker... then the broker would need to close the short sell and purchase the shares so you can sell them at whatever price. The only one who loses out is the short seller because their short got closed early.
