I think shorts are certainly walking the price down. I’ve seen what happens with many other small caps when short interest goes way up while average daily volume is low, and it often appears to involve coordinated short attacks to trigger stop losses. My grandfather told me stories about a man he knew that did coordinated short selling with a large group of people. The guy was a real crook.
