The BB would have massively blindsided the shorters. Prior to that it would have been reasonably difficult to cover at these prices, but now it's virtually impossible. No investor in their right mind would sell at these prices, as they know the company itself is buying everything up below $15 (establishing a clearly defined price floor, which I'm beginning to appreciate now as a better strategy that simply buying everything they can all at once). So the shorters now are certainly in a pickle as they won't get enough liquidity to cover whilst this remains under $30. Plus they have to buy back amongst a growing number of large investors attempting to accumulate at these bargain prices...
