Shorters biggest weakness is time in this situation. There is an ongoing cost to hold the loaned stock. If they try to drop the SP, CUV will simply buy more shares for the same cost planned. Also holders will top up confidently. Slow steady buy volume at the same or lower price will put pressure on shorts to close. At some point the balance equation will flip to negative and squeeze. At that stage traders may add fuel to wring some money out of the squeeze. The only chance they have is to reduce holdings slowly with hf trading while planting doubt in the minds of holders wherever possible. If I was high net wealth I would be looking to buy heavily alongside the Co and trade off a squeeze.
