Yes the individual sorters are playing with fire. I stopped Shorting stocks when i was almost badly burned by shorting Amazone 1999 ~ 2000. I still do a lot of puts.
That does not change the fact that aggerated shorts on Lynas is small and has little impact on stock price. Yes shorts did grow from 2.2% to 3 % in recent rise and probably took a few pennies off of stock climb. As stock price falls they are selling to cover and added a few pennies to price.
