On the 15th of Aug, we still had over 19,000 shorted; since then, there has been a gradual decline. I guess that this figure 10,747, on the 13th of Oct, is today even lower because, on the 16th of October, there was a big volume and low price day at the 2.16 level. So the possible effect on the shorts number will be seen after 2 weeks if there are no other factors, which we may always have on the stock markets, however.
Why are the shorters reducing their activity? Perhaps they should answer this question but IMO there may be several reasons. - annual meeting may bring new info - ph 2 studies are going on and there may be any day some positive reports from the open biomarker study. All patients in these 2 studies have now been recruited. There are also some patients who have had 12 months of treatment ( small dosage, big dosage, or placebo). It may be difficult to keep the secret of the treatment effect. The biomarker study will report during the study, not only in the end. Most likely Prof. Claassen and his group already know some of the possible biomarker changes as the biomarkers are followed perhaps monthly during the first 4 months. - PBT2 deal is still open but soon it is 3 years since ATH got this patent for commercialization. IMO 3 y should be enough. - News from Prof. Masters's PBT2 license could also be expected. - The primate study is also soon 3 y old and some results can be expected. - etc
