Shorting has terrible odds (unlimited risk, limited upside) and is inherently a short term strategy so those who suffer from gambling addiction often enjoy participating in this activity. I think the high risk of shorting a company like this provides them with a bit of a thrill. I can't understand any other reason why as the fundamentals are top notch and so all it would take would be for the company to really improve their investor marketing or release a major announcement, and this would rally. I certainly wouldn't touch it with a short, plenty of far better short opportunities out there imo
