If gold falls under 1000 in modern society I think there are a lot of other things to be worrying about. People who can afford to buy shares will be a lot better off than most if that happens. Gold isn't that precious? I can't really relate to that. Neither is music or art then. See Maslow's Hierarchy Of Needs. Once you got your food, shelter and safety covered, you want esteem and wanna self actualise. If I ever witness gold in my lifetime being 'not that precious', the fabric of society is well and truly screwed. Anarchy. We will be fighting each other for bananas.
