Thats the point though isn't it. Copper actually does get used in large amounts. It has value through its use. Gold's main "consumption" is jewelry (which doesn't do anything). Iron Ore's main consumption is that its turned into Steel to make things. Coal is turned into electricity to keep us warm and our lives functioning as they do.
Gold can't do any of those things. The original post was dont worry even under $1000 MYG will be ok - and I said to that... How? What does MYG do with gold under $1000 when it won't be profitable? What does that do for shareholders? Gold's real value is what people are willing to pay for it day to day - that's all it is. A store of wealth of a shiny metal that is dug out of the ground only to be shiny.
