one thing everyone seems to forget when claiming the shorters are pushing the stock down (am DEFINATELY not saying this isn't whats happened today!!!) is that every time the shorters dump shares to drop the SP they must buy again as at some point they are required to return the shares to the rightful owner.
As on Dec 8th there were ~48m shares shorted however over the last few days only a max ~80k short sales were reported, will post todays figure tomorrow morn when it is released but believe that this dump quite possibly hit a few stop losses, if you don't tie the stop loss to the vol then this can occur quite easily and if it did trigger stop losses feel sorry for those traders as all they were trying to do is protect themselves only to be tricked into selling!!!
