Also...re short interest 'data'...it's worth knowing that ASIC or ASX data often isnt the 'real deal'. For one...its T minus 4 ( or something)...so basically a week old...for two...'reporting' short sales is kind of a grey area for traders/brokers...its justifiable to not report 'short' if say another 'fund' in organisation is long...or if you may have derivative type exposure to ffset...or if its an arbitrage etc....i am not in compliance s these just my thoughts, from experience....but anyway...it's rubbery..the actual numbers....typically the 'trend' on shorts may be right...but the numbers apften are far from reality ( imho).
there are other data providers for shorts...that are WAY WAY more acuurate...as they come from stock loan ( borrow to short) desks, prime brokers ( who ggive hedgies the shorts) etc etc etc...and it's T minus 1 day ( not 4)...
point neing...dont rely on official asx short data....most tims its informative( trend wise)...but sometimes its not ! I've seen very very different pictures over the years...but 80% of the time...pretty similalr...and i have no idea re STX shorts....but just sharing an old mans experience
