My view is simply the following: the short selling itself of course does not build a stake in STX... but it brings liquidity (large amount of supply) of STX shares at relatively low price to the market. And a third party (like yourself ) can take advantage of this situation...
If a party is interested to build a strategic stake in a company, it can "commission" this form of short selling... the short seller act as a "vendor" for this party and get some sort of compensation for that service... That is, what I mean with "risk-free" short selling...
Otherwise the simple question remains, why do we see this massive short selling in STX since 14th Aug?
The story of arbitrage trading makes no sense due to the tiny profits...What else, could be the reason behind the accelerated STX short selling since Aug 14?
