I have been thinking about this - and I am not sure that this about the money or extra STX share acquisition.
Coming up evens at no risk is fine if your whole purpose and agenda is to guarantee that the STX/TPD deal goes ahead without any problems.
I think that is why there was such a long lead time to the deal happening. Someone much smarter than me has this cleverly planned out so that they have acquired the shares to have a substantial vote at the TPD meeting - but at no risk to their STX base either.
