@NoImSpartacus - an unusual take, but one I have heard people express before.
We do not know what powers are active 'behind the throne' in so many instances, in so many countries around the world, not only in 'the West'.
Just call yourself lucky if you survived with some comfort and some security for your family and children.
The people who got to the top, all throughout history, were often the most manipulative greedy bastards who couldn't give a damn about 'their people', in fact the more they carried on about 'their people' (das Volk, Communism) the worse the eventual fate of 'the people' became.
But this is going to fall on deaf ears, you probably realise this - and your post will most likely not survive for long.
