Analysis of current skills shortages shows that 36% of occupations assessed were in national shortage (332 out of 916) in 2023, 5 percentage points higher than the 2022 Skills Priority List (SPL). Shortages were most common for Technicians and Trades Workers, with 50% of occupations in the category assessed as being in national shortage, broadly consistent with findings of previous SPLs. For example, all occupations in the Construction Trades Workers and Food Trades Workers groups were found to be in national shortage.
