I’ve heard people way smarter than me say look at commodities that are supply constrained and you make money in the peaks rather than a staircase share price wise. For me coal fits this narrative tremendously with permits getting harder to come by. I feel punters on the asx confuse Australian coal plants closing with coal exports and mines which our state governments are reliant on for royalty revenue. In a low carbon future Australian coal is preferred as higher quality than Russian and Chinese coal. We could see more pressure for price divergence. In 30 years the YAL war chest could expand in many directions similar to Origin pivot over time
