You're probably right (and i hope you are), coal is here to stay for the short to medium term for power and longer for steel i think but i guess my point was that Nuclear could be up and running before 2040 and possibly before 2035 IF (Big IF) we had the impetus and balls. Unpopular decisions have been taken by old governments and they survived, just look at the GST as one example. Labor minority government wont help so that's at least another 4 years of what we currently have then maybe LNP get up. You never know though, surprises happen every day, maybe LNP actually manage to get up next year and have a solid plan for a Gen4 plant to begin construction in a reasonable timeframe. Stranger things have happened.
