We are talking about spec companies so dividends arent relevent.
With respect to you selling your shares for a loss to buy a house; I doubt that was your plan when you originally identified that stock to buy. Unfortunately your judgement was incorrect and your investment horizon was too short to recover your loses.
At the end of the day, people buy or sell SPEC stocks that they belive will go up or down respectively.
