BHP does have gold exposure by default, as a byproduct. Best leverage in is typically via the large copper mines. Eg Olympic Dam. There are some big deposits in the gawler craton waiting to be exploited. Long life tier one assets.
Going for a pure gold play will bring in extra volitility. Its great when its on a leg up, horrible on the down side.
Not many tier one gold companies kicking around for BhP to buy unless a huge premium was offered.
