As is well known I am always on the alert for
off market buybacks which are great for building up franking credits and capital losses. I personally believe that this is the only way that companies should carry out
buybacks. This provides help to small investors and Australian institutions but is useless to foreign institutions.
I dislike on-market buy backs intensely. They contain the potential for manipulation.
