Hi again!
Luxembourg legalizes cannabisAuthor: Alexandra LatourPublished: 1. December 2018Modified on: December 1, 2018It looks like Luxembourg will soon be the first European country to fully legalize cannabis. This would allow cannabis use for recreational purposes.
Already in July of this year, we reported that Luxembourg enforced the legalization of cannabis as medicine within a few months. Now physicians of any discipline may prescribe cannabis on prescription, if they have previously attended a special training. The full legalization of cannabis should now follow, according to a media report.
The coalition negotiations will continue until 5 December. A final statement can not yet be made. However, the coalition partners agree, which is why it is not assumed that there will be no cannabis legalization. Only rarely is there such unity in cannabis policy. The Netherlands still finds it difficult to establish a legal and regulated cannabis market after decades of experience with open cannabis treatment. On the other hand, Luxembourg seems to want to implement cannabis legalization quickly. So it would be desirable for Luxembourg to codify the legalization as a point in the coalition agreement and to implement the legalization. Because a new legalized cannabis market in the European Union might bring some movement into the legalization efforts of other countries. Germany and many other European countries should take this as an offense.
