watso agrees with milo.. it should not surprise but there have been threads about the matter in the distant past...
watso paid rent.. the reality is that if rent was not paid, the money would be wasted anyway .. best that kids learn the value of money.
when the son is kicked out by his gf and lives with his mom - then he has to pay rent - but the daughter never pays rent . the son does not even live in the house - he had a donga (ie transportable from a mining site) dropped on the property .
maybe save the rent and give it to the kids when they are ready to settle down.. ok if there are no financial pressures in the home - tell them the deal.
if the kids want to have a good time and pay $8 for a pint of beer, or go to the casino - they can do that after they have paid some rent .
for what it is worth, but watso had to pay 1/3rd of his income in rent when living at home ..in the end, the parents gave more than that back .. the parents did not collect the rent to waste it - indeed watso inherited the frugal gene from his mom
