The fact is that there are bad parents. Whether they became that way by cultural practices or unfortunate development is immaterial.
This girl is sixteen years of age and can clearly see her fate if expelled from this country.
For her to be safe I'd rather give her the benefit of doubt.
She and her parent or parents can kiss and make up (if she is telling a story) some time in the future.
