    I'll admit I don't understand the details, but I do not accept that most of those commenting understand them either. This, like everything else today is a matter of "sides" not "policy" and most commentators have an agenda.

    On balance, as we are assured no details are kept [by definition] I do not believe it is a privacy issue. The only thing left to discuss is the associated costs.

    As an aside, most of those objecting to the privacy infringement are avid users of the least private media: Facebook and Twitter. In fact that is where the campaigns are run. I am bemused about the attitude that "I don't care what Google knows about me, but I object strongly to my government POSSIBLY knowing something about me in their efforts to keep me safe from terrorism."
