both valid arguments and yep we are a free market with all its warts and pleasures. subsiding companies though has been done for decades. yes it costs but in such circumstances as was done for Qantas, Virgin and Rex during covid. but full public ownership has too often resulted in much mismanagement, mostly imo because politicians want control. yet the trains manage ok. privatised buses cut out lower pick up routes leaving little old ladies with bent umbrellas. so many pros and cons to both your posts.

and the post office had excellent management who ran the show. if that model was employed then Govt ownership would a doddle.
