    Pork barreling always a problem with single member electorates , hence proportional representation my preference.
    As far as ''turbo charging'' , I think not, what you are describing is what we have now.
    In a prop. reps system , if you pork barrel one group, you more likely to piss off another.

    My hope for such a legislature would eventually be something that might have 2 to 3 parties each , on the left and right ,and maybe a couple in the centre , covering the widest possible viewpoints in the Australian electorate.
    Stability comes from the executive that it elects at the start of the parliament , which can be changed if necessary , but it would require cooperation across the whole house , rather than back room plotting in a single party.
