It is inevitable that renewables will contribute more and more to the energy of our Country.
I cant say that that GAS will be redundant in my lifetime. Maybe Coal?
It is now evident (to me, previously not) that Big fuel driven generators are still an essential requirement to give the system security.
I think in light of what just happened and the new found awareness and knowledge we are all now getting. It is possible how much do we pay them to keep the big beasts online.
With several closures already and another on the way (Hazelwood) perhaps that is what we may need to be asking.
Until technology has developed enough to offer that security it is all pie in the sky stuff.
