Thre is more here than RIO simply wanting Shovelanna becasue...well...they want it!
Shovelanna actuallt plays a pivotal role in reducing the profitability of the BHP Orebody 18...the same Orebody that continues into Shovelanna.
As it stands, BHP have to stop mining the Orebody 18 deposit, not at the boundary line, but hundreds of meters in from it...to allow both perimeter access as well as stope decline.
Clearly, RIO view Shovelanna as a strategic thorn in the side of BHP's profitability on the orebody 18 operation...nothing more.
In CAZ's hands...not only do they get to extract that on both side of the fence, but all that ground in the middlw that would otherwise be left behind.
