re: showing class - reminds me - humour Reflecting on this heading reminds me of something I didn't think of at the time. Those old enough may remember the famed Cuban athlete Juantarina (?spelling) who was at his peak in the 1970's and the moment I am thinking of is an Olympic final in either the 400 or 800 metres. An English commentator called David Coleman was calling the race and uttered these immortal words as Juantarina pulled ahead on the final bend; "and Juantarina opens his leggs and shows his class to the world".

Another faux pas I recall came from an English cricket commentator called John Arlott who, post war, was was the English equivalent of Alan Macgilvray. At the time he was relating the fielding positions (the poms were fielding) when he uttered these immortal words in his slow Yorkshire drawl; "Cowdrey, in the slips, legs wide apart, waiting for a tickle".

Commentators are full of faux pas, anybody got a few?
